Privacy Policy

Browsing scripture, reading Prayers, and reading other users' verse comments never requires any information from you. If you create an account, you provide (or your sign-in provider shares) an email address or identifier and a display name — a real name is required on every account. If you submit a prayer request, mark yourself as praying for someone, leave a note, comment on a verse, or keep a private verse note, that information is stored on our servers. Please don't provide information that isn't necessary for using the Service.

If you never create an account, your scripture reading position, saved and favorited verses, daily check-in streak, reading-plan progress, Faith stats, and app preferences (theme, font, music, sound, vibration, animation) live only in local storage on your device. None of this is sent to our servers unless it's later transmitted through a feature that uses our servers or a third-party service. Deleting the app, clearing its storage, or replacing your device permanently removes information that exists only on that device.

Once you're signed in, that same reading position, saved and favorited verses, streak, reading-plan progress, Faith stats, private verse notes, and preferences sync to your account instead — continuously and automatically, with no manual “sync now” step — so they follow you across every device you sign into. Information designated as private within Nephi Plates is not intended to be publicly displayed.

Nephi Plates includes community features that let you submit content: prayer requests, notes left on prayer requests, and verse comments. This content, along with your display name, is visible to anyone using the app, including people who haven't created an account — it is not private messaging. Do not include private, confidential, sensitive, or personally identifying information in a prayer request, note, or comment, and avoid posting personal information about another person without their permission. Where supported, you can edit or delete your own content from within the app — see “Account and data deletion” below. We may review, restrict, hide, or remove community content when reasonably necessary to enforce our Terms of Service, protect users, comply with legal obligations, or maintain the Service.

Content identified within Nephi Plates as private, such as private verse notes, is for your personal use and is not intended to be displayed publicly to other users. We use technical access controls intended to limit access to account-linked private information, but no online service or storage system can guarantee absolute confidentiality or security.

You can sign in with Apple, Google, Facebook, X (Twitter), or an email address and password, powered by Supabase Auth. If you use Apple, Google, or Facebook, those companies process your authentication according to their own privacy policies, and we only ever receive the identifier, email, and name they choose to share with us. X doesn't share a real email address at all, so a placeholder address that isn't tied to you anywhere else is generated instead. When Facebook's more private sign-in mode isn't available, and always for X, your access token is sent to our server just long enough to verify it directly with Facebook or X and create your session — it isn't stored afterward.

Our backend infrastructure provider (Supabase) may log standard technical request information as part of operating its service — such as IP address, device or browser information, timestamps, authentication events, and error or diagnostic information — the way any web-connected backend does. We don't separately collect or analyze this ourselves, and we don't use it to try to determine sensitive personal characteristics about you.

Tapping a verse can show AI-generated study content — a glossary, explanation, historical context, word studies, discussion questions, and similar sections, produced using a third-party AI provider (Anthropic). This content is generated once per verse and reused for every user who opens it; it is not associated with your account, and unless a feature clearly states otherwise, Nephi Plates does not intentionally include your account profile, private verse notes, prayer requests, or other personal user content in prompts sent to the AI provider. AI-generated material may contain errors and should not be considered official religious doctrine, professional advice, or an authoritative interpretation of scripture.

We use information as reasonably necessary to:

• provide and maintain the Service;
• create and authenticate accounts;
• synchronize supported information across your devices;
• provide requested features, including community and AI-assisted study features;
• maintain user preferences and progress;
• maintain security and prevent abuse;
• investigate technical problems;
• enforce our Terms of Service;
• respond to user requests; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information for money.

We use third-party companies to help operate Nephi Plates, including:

• Supabase — authentication, database, storage, and synchronization;
• Apple, Google, Facebook, and X — sign-in, when you choose that provider; and
• Anthropic — AI-assisted scripture study features.

These providers process information on our behalf or as otherwise necessary to provide their respective services, and their processing is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

The Nephi Plates app does not include advertising SDKs, and we don't sell your information or use third-party analytics or ad trackers anywhere in the app.

The Nephi Plates marketing website (nephiplates.com) uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless page-view analytics tool, to understand aggregate visitor traffic. It does not use cookies or cross-site tracking and is not used for behavioral advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

We may disclose information:

• to service providers that help us operate the Service;
• when you intentionally make information public through a community feature;
• when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, fraud, security incidents, or violations of our Terms;
• when required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid governmental requests;
• when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of Nephi Plates, our users, or others; or
• in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Account-linked data (bookmarks, progress, settings, prayers, notes, comments) is kept for as long as your account exists. Public content you post (prayer requests, notes, comments) can be edited or deleted by you individually at any time from within the app, as described below. When information is deleted, residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or caches until they're overwritten or removed according to our normal retention processes, and we may retain limited information when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

You can edit or delete any prayer request you've posted, and delete (though not edit) any verse comment, at any time from within the app. Notes left on a prayer request can't be edited or deleted once sent, matching how they behave for everyone who reads them. You can permanently delete your entire account at any time — Account → Delete Account — which immediately removes it and everything tied to it (bookmarks, reading progress, Faith stats, settings, prayer requests, notes, and comments) with no need to contact us. Deleting your account doesn't automatically delete information independently maintained by third-party authentication providers — you may need to contact them separately about information they control.

We use industry-standard tools (Supabase, including Postgres Row Level Security) to restrict access to your account data to your own account. These measures include authentication controls, encrypted network communications, and database access controls, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Nephi Plates is intended for a general audience and is not directed primarily to children under 13, and account creation requires an email address or a sign-in provider consistent with that provider's own age requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without authorization or consent when such consent is required by applicable law. A parent or legal guardian who believes a child under 13 has provided personal information through Nephi Plates may contact us at the address below.

Nephi Plates is available worldwide. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers (Supabase and Anthropic) operate their infrastructure. Where required by applicable law, we and our service providers use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the ability to request access, correction, or deletion of your information, an explanation of how it's processed, or withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent. Certain rights may be subject to exceptions or verification requirements. You can also exercise choices directly through Nephi Plates, including signing out, managing or deleting your own content, adjusting preferences, and deleting your account. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights available to you under applicable law.

Some browsers and devices send privacy preference or “Do Not Track” signals. Because there isn't a single universally applicable technical standard for these signals, Nephi Plates may not respond to every browser-based signal. Where applicable law requires recognition of a particular legally recognized privacy preference signal, we handle it as required by that law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Nephi Plates, our service providers, our information practices, or applicable law. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above, and where required by applicable law, provide additional notice or obtain consent before material changes take effect.
